A Message from Mrs Sime
Headteacher's Message
Welcome to St Matthew’s Catholic Primary School, where every child is at the heart of all we do. We believe that each child is uniquely created, full of potential, and deserving of an education that inspires, nurtures and empowers them to shine. Our school is a place of warmth, faith and ambition, where children are supported to grow not only academically, but as kind, confident and compassionate individuals.
On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I warmly welcome you to our school community. My name is Mrs Claire Sime and I am proud to have been Headteacher at St Matthew’s for over five years, leading such a caring, dedicated and faith-filled school.
At St Matthew’s, our mission, “Love, Learn and Shine Together with Jesus,” underpins everything we do. Gospel values guide our relationships, our learning and our daily life, ensuring that every child feels valued, respected and inspired to achieve their full potential. As a Catholic school, our faith is central to who we are. We nurture children spiritually as well as academically, encouraging them to grow in kindness, respect and compassion for others.
We are incredibly proud of our school community. St Matthew’s is a welcoming and inclusive environment where strong partnerships between school, families, the parish and the wider community play a vital role in supporting every child’s development and wellbeing. We firmly believe that education is a shared journey, and we value the trust and support of our families.
Our children are enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn. Through a broad, engaging and ambitious curriculum, we aim to inspire a love of learning, develop independence and resilience, and ensure that every child is equipped with the skills and confidence to succeed. We place great importance on building strong foundations, particularly in the early years, so that all children begin their journey with confidence and success.
I feel privileged to work alongside a dedicated and passionate team of staff and governors who are committed to providing the highest quality of education and care. Together, we strive to create a happy, safe and nurturing environment where children feel secure, challenged and proud of their achievements.
We are very proud of St Matthew’s and all that we offer. I hope our website gives you a real insight into our values, our vision and the vibrant life of our school. If you would like to find out more, I warmly invite you to visit us and experience first-hand the special community we share.
We look forward to welcoming you to St Matthew’s Catholic Primary School.
