Art & Design

Art & Design at St Matthew’s Primary School

Art and Design nurtures creativity and imagination, making it a vital part of children’s learning. It offers rich visual, tactile, and sensory experiences, as well as a unique way for children to explore, understand, and respond to the world around them. At St Matthew’s, children are encouraged to study and evaluate the work of artists, and to express what they see, feel, and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern, and a variety of materials and processes.

Dot Art

Dot Art Schools is an annual, interactive online art competition for Year 5 (and Year 9) students in the Liverpool City Region and surrounding areas. It invites schools to submit pupils’ artwork, which is displayed online, shortlisted by experts, and voted on by the public, culminating in a prestigious exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery for winning entries.
